Aguiar and Masoumian Dual Exhibition at Sponge Living Space in Pergola
At Sponge Living Space in Pergola, a dual exhibition brings together Brazilian photographer Ronaldo Aguiar and Iranian artist Saba Masoumian, both winners of the 2015 Premio Ora online contest. Aguiar, born in São Paulo in 1971 and working between Brazil, Spain, and New York, presents meditations on transience through photographs of animal skeletons used for research, embellished with colorful embroidery. Masoumian, born in Tehran in 1982, transplanted to Bologna and active in London and Dubai, miniaturizes empty, derelict domestic interiors in boxes, evoking past violence and present squalor, with recurring eggs and small butterflies as symbols of hope. The exhibition, curated by Giovanna Giannini Guazzugli (Aguiar) and Milena Becci (Masoumian), runs until September 18, 2016. The show highlights the convergence of Middle Eastern and South American perspectives, facilitated by the web and the Premio Ora platform.
