Agrati Collection Donated to Intesa Sanpaolo Unveiled at Gallerie d'Italia
The Agrati collection, comprising 500 works donated by industrialists Luigi and Peppino Agrati to Intesa Sanpaolo, is now on public display for the first time at Gallerie d'Italia in Milan. The exhibition, titled 'Arte come rivelazione' and curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, features 73 representative pieces. Highlights include two Cy Twombly works from 1962 and 1966, a monographic section on Fausto Melotti with 19 sculptures, and projects by Christo for the Agrati family park. The show traces the emergence of Arte Povera with early works like Mario Merz's 'Senza titolo' (1968), alongside pieces by Alighiero Boetti, Jannis Kounellis, and Giulio Paolini. American art is also prominent, with Andy Warhol's 'Triple Elvis' (1963), three Robert Rauschenbergs, two Jean-Michel Basquiat paintings, and works by Ed Ruscha, Dan Flavin, Bruce Nauman, and Richard Serra. Italian masters such as Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, Alberto Burri, Enrico Castellani, and Piero Manzoni are represented, along with a notable Robert Ryman from 1966. The collection was recently catalogued in a reasoned catalogue before the exhibition.
