Agostino Bonalumi retrospective opens at Palazzo Reale in Milan
On July 16, a significant retrospective of Agostino Bonalumi (1935–2013) was inaugurated at Palazzo Reale in Milan, postponed from July 10 following the passing of Luca Lovati, Bonalumi's assistant. The exhibition, titled "Bonalumi, 1958–2013" and curated by Marco Meneguzzo, showcases 120 pieces across eleven rooms, highlighting Bonalumi's artistic journey through three distinct phases: extroflexions (up to 1971), grid period (1971–1988–89), and experimental phase (1989–2013). Notable innovations include "pittura-oggetto" and three key installations: "Blu abitabile" (1967), "Struttura modulare bianca" (1970), and a surface at Institut Mathildenhöhe (2003). A partial reconstruction from the 1970 Venice Biennale pays tribute to Constantin Brancusi, while a twelve-minute documentary clip by Fabrizio Galatea will be shown, with the complete version set to air on Sky Arte on September 18.
