Agostino Bonalumi Catalogue Raisonné Published by Skira
Skira has released the two-volume catalogue raisonné of Agostino Bonalumi (1935–2013), edited by Marco Meneguzzo and the artist's son Fabrizio Bonalumi, who also directs the Archivio Bonalumi. The first volume functions as a standalone monograph with an essay by Meneguzzo, a collage of interviews from 1966 to 2013, a photographic biography, an anthology of writings by and about the artist, and 180 pages of large-format color plates. The second volume contains the general catalog of Bonalumi's oeuvre, plus extensive appendices including biography, solo and group exhibitions, monographs, and bibliographies. Bonalumi is known for his monochrome estroflesse canvases, which he began in 1959, and was part of the Azimuth group with Enrico Castellani and Piero Manzoni, under the influence of Lucio Fontana. After a period of market neglect, his work regained recognition following a 2013 posthumous exhibition at Robilant + Voena in London. The catalogue raisonné aims to solidify his legacy. Additionally, a monograph on Bonalumi's sculptures, edited by Francesca Pola, was previously published by Numer0zer0edit0re in collaboration with Archivio Bonalumi and Galleria Mazzoleni.
