Afterall.org has just put out a series of video lectures on its platform. One of the highlights features Prisca Tankwey, who delves into the Sape (Société des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Élégantes), exploring how identity ties into performance art and the need for fresh boundaries. On January 31, 2024, the Hiding in Plain Sight program will showcase Malaysian artist Sharon Chin, who will discuss her 2022 work, Creatures on the Move (In the Death of the Night), alongside Arianna Mercado and Camille Crichlow. Additionally, on April 11, 2023, Estefanía Peñafiel Loaiza will engage with Afterall's Elisa Adami and Alex Schady about Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak’s Can the Subaltern Speak? Finally, designer Cedrick Nzolo will present the mvuata-mable from the Congo Design Arts Project, focusing on the Sape's role in lifestyle and allure on May 13, 2022. Sinzo Aanza will also reveal his Improbable Memorial project, highlighting the struggles of Congolese people impacted by the global mobile phone industry on the same date.
