Afterall Symposium Explores Artists for Democracy (1974–77) and Precarious Solidarities

On February 2, 2023, a symposium titled 'Precarious Solidarities: Artists for Democracy (1974–77)' was hosted by Afterall Exhibition Histories, collaborating with the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College, Asia Art Archive, and the University of Gothenburg, all supported by the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art. Some of the key participants included Wing Chan, Charles Esche, Eileen Legaspi-Ramirez, and Cecilia Vicuña, among others. The focus of the discussions was the Artists for Democracy initiative from 1974 to 1977.
