Afterall Launches Book on 2000 Shanghai Art Exhibitions
Afterall Books has introduced 'Uncooperative Contemporaries: Art Exhibitions in Shanghai in 2000,' adding to its Exhibition Histories series. An online launch event took place on November 16, 2020, featuring insights from various contributors like Lee Weng Choy, Carol Yinghua Lu, Liu Ding, and Mia Yu. Lee Weng Choy is an independent art critic and the president of the Singapore chapter of the International Association of Art Critics, with teaching experience at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Liu Ding, an artist and curator from Beijing, has participated in prominent events such as the Istanbul Biennial and Venice Biennale. The book, co-published with Asia Art Archive and Bard College's Center for Curatorial Studies, was available for free and included a Mandarin translation.
