Afterall Journal Issue 46 Launch in Yangon Explores Burmese Contemporary Art

On October 20, 2018, Lokanat Galleries in Yangon will launch the 46th issue of Afterall journal, titled 'Reconstruction: Performance and Collective Action.' This edition features a significant essay by Yin Ker, exploring the evolution of contemporary art in Myanmar and navigating the challenges artists face. Highlighted artists include Po Po, Min Thein Sung, Tun Win Aung, and Wah Nu. The evening will include a conversation with Yin Ker and Po Po, followed by insights from Ana Bilbao and Anca Rujoiu of NTU CCA Singapore. The editorial team, led by Ute Meta Bauer and Charles Esche, aims to address societal oppression. Translations of the essay will also be available. Admission is free, with support from the British Council Myanmar.
