Afterall Issue 55/56: Global South Perspectives
Afterall Journal has put out a special double issue (55/56) that really broadens the lens beyond just Western perspectives, focusing on voices from the Global South. Inside, you’ll find essays, interviews, and profiles of various artists, including Jonathas de Andrade, Rosana Paulino, and Richard Mosse, among others. A standout feature is the first English translation of insights from Congolese critic Célestin Badibanga Ne Mwine about 1990s art in the DRC, along with an essay by Ailton Krenak. It also covers the 7th Lubumbashi Biennale and highlights works by Marwa Arsanios and Sinzo Aanza. You can grab a copy through Central Books in the UK or Les presses du réel in other regions, and individual articles are available via the University of Chicago Press.
