Afterall Hosts Decolonisation Symposium Series
Afterall has teamed up with the UAL Decolonising Arts Institute, Museu de Arte de São Paulo, and the Goldsmiths Department of Visual Cultures to launch an online series called 'Decolonisation in the 2020s.' The first session, 'Decolonising the University,' featured a conversation between Osmundo Pinho, an Associate Professor at Recôncavo da Bahia Federal University, and Rahul Rao, a Senior Lecturer at SOAS, University of London, with Yaiza Hernández Velázquez as the moderator. Upcoming sessions will include artist Sharon Chin discussing her work 'Creatures on the Move (In the Death of the Night)' (2022) and Estefanía Peñafiel Loaiza on Spivak's 'Can the Subaltern Speak?'. Additionally, Afterall Exhibition Histories has organized a two-part symposium named 'Precarious Solidarities: Artists for Democracy (1974–77).'
