Afterall ArtSchool and Spatial Radio Host Teya Logos at Central Saint Martins

On December 8, 2023, Afterall ArtSchool partnered with MA Narrative Environments' Spatial Radio for a live broadcast and silent dance party at The Street, Central Saint Martins in London. The event featured Philippines-based DJ and artist-activist Teya Logos, who performed a set streamed via Spatial Radio. Attendees could listen through 100 headsets provided by MA Narrative Environments, or tune in online. The event was part of Afterall ArtSchool's series 'Hiding in Plain Sight,' which explores alternative approaches to study outside institutional frameworks, drawing on Fred Moten and Stefano Harney's concept of the 'undercommons' and Simone Browne's work on Blackness and surveillance. Teya Logos, born December 3, 2003, is a militanteng transpinay from Quezon City, Philippines, known for her violent club music and activism. She has released music on Czech label UNIZONE and Egyptian label ANBA, contributed to the Palestinian charity compilation 'FREE' on Mutants Mxitape, and performed at Boiler Room, CTM Festival, and Pestapora. Her work has been featured on DJ Mag, Mixmag Asia, and ABS-CBN. In 2023, she toured regionally in Melbourne, Sydney, Bangkok, Taipei, Jakarta, and Singapore. Since 2018, she has run the online electronic music community CXD. The event was free but required registration, with limited slots for the public.
