Afterall and AAA Explore Exhibition Histories at Shared Campus Event
Situated Knowledges – Art and Curating On the Move was a Shared Campus Event that took place at Tai Kwun Contemporary in Hong Kong and the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst in Zurich. On June 25, 2021, from 10:15–11:40pm CEST / 4:10–5:40pm HKT, a panel discussion titled 'Once Upon A Place' featured Afterall Exhibition Histories series editor Lucy Steeds alongside John Tain, Head of Research at Asia Art Archive (AAA). They explored strategies for preserving essential elements after exhibitions, referencing the 1989 London show 'The Other Story: Afro-Asian Art in Postwar Britain.' Later, from 1:00–4:00pm CEST / 7:00–10:00pm HKT, a workshop named 'Situated Knowledges, Situated Works' took place, attracting 20 participants who creatively engaged with artworks from Hayward Gallery or Tai Kwun, inspired by Ha Bik Chuen's collage techniques. The workshop reached full capacity.
