festival-fair · 2026-04-26

Africa Basel, a new boutique fair dedicated to contemporary African art, is set to launch from June 17 to 22, 2025, at Ackermannshof in Basel, Switzerland, aligning with Art Basel (June 19–22). Established by Sven Eisenhut-Hug and Benjamin Füglister, the fair will showcase a carefully curated selection of artworks that emphasize the vibrancy of Africa's art landscape. The curatorial team, comprising Azu Nwagbogu, Michèle Sandoz, Serge Tiroche, and Greer Valley, will choose approximately twenty galleries from around 300 submissions by January 31, 2025. Africa Basel's mission includes safeguarding emerging art from speculative trends and plans to grow through partnerships, satellite events, and a digital approach over the next five years, positioning itself alongside events like 1:54 and Akaa.
