Afra Al Dhaheri's 'Collective Exhaustion' Probes Accelerated Time
Afra Al Dhaheri has partnered with an international group to develop 'Collective Exhaustion,' an interactive installation that examines the unyielding tempo of modern life. This large-scale piece incorporates immersive sound and light elements crafted by Dario Felli and Christian Simon Petru. Collaborating with Johan O. R. Sterner and produced by Lyuba Todorova, the initiative features artists from Denmark, Italy, Bulgaria, and Romania, as well as Emirati students from Zayed University, guided by Al Dhaheri. Funded by the UAE Ministry of Culture's National Grant Program for Culture and Creation, Al Dhaheri articulates her vision: 'I think about time as a concept, movement, and sound.' Sterner notes, 'Today's tempo shapes our perception of time... It's in the art of pausing where we reclaim time's true rhythm.'
