Aesthetica Art Prize 2024 Exhibition Showcases 10 Global Sculptors at York Art Gallery
The York Art Gallery inaugurated the Aesthetica Art Prize 2024 Exhibition on 16 February, which will be on display until 21 April. This event features the works of ten international sculptors, each addressing themes of human experience and environmental relationships. Among the exhibits, George Andric showcases Ellipses, crafted from stainless steel, while Hugo Harris presents Press, which illustrates body weight. Loz Atkinson pays tribute to her great grandfather's WWII sacrifice with Yellow Ribbon. Other notable pieces include Marc Vilanova's Phonos, composed of 208 recycled speakers, and Jim Jacobs' Crest, reflecting on environmental consequences. The exhibition also includes works by Jasmine Pradissitto, Zena Holloway, Monroe Isenberg, Kathryn Stevens, and Marianne Broch. Additionally, over 250 artists are featured online, and submissions for the next prize edition are open until 31 August, offering a £10,000 award.
