Aesop unveils first lighting collection with Milan design week installation

architecture-design · 2026-04-20

Skincare brand Aesop has introduced its inaugural lighting designs, the Aposē collection, during Milan design week 2026. The launch is centered around The Factory of Light installation, designed by Australian architect Rodney Eggleston of March Studio, located within the 15th-century Chiesa del Carmine in Milan's Brera district. The installation features scaffolding printed with images of iconic Milanese buildings, inspired by construction hoardings observed throughout the city. Three sculptural lamp types—a table lamp, pendant, and floor lamp—were developed, their forms directly derived from the shape of Aesop's hand balm tube. Produced in a limited edition of 500 pieces in collaboration with lighting brand Flos, the glass and brass lamps are manufactured in Italy and Germany. They are displayed on a table constructed from 16,000 recycled Aesop fragrance bottles. Marianne Lardilleux, Aesop's director of global retail design, stated the project's focus on light aligns with the brand's philosophy. The installation, open from April 21 to 26, 2026, includes four rooms detailing the lamps' creation process. This follows a well-received 2025 exhibition at the same venue that attracted 11,000 visitors.
