Aesop and Rodney Eggleston Debut Aposē Lamps Within a 'Topographic' Bottle Installation in Milan
For Milan Design Week 2026, Australian architect Rodney Eggleston of March Studio has created 'The Factory of Light' at the Chiostro di Santa Maria del Carmine. The immersive installation marks the launch of Aesop's Aposē lamp collection, exploring human craft and luminosity. The structure uses scaffolding draped in salvaged trompe-l'œil tarpaulins typically used to shroud Milanese landmarks during restoration. Inside, chambers are dedicated to the lamp's production, from mechanical lathes in the 'Hear' room to Venetian glass-blowing. Over 10,000 salvaged amber bottles form a topographic landscape in the historic wood-paneled sacristy. The Aposē lamp features a mouth-blown glass crown and hand-cast brass base. The installation runs from April 21 to 26, 2026, 10 AM to 6 PM.
