ÆS – Arts+Economics: A New Bilingual Quarterly Merging Art and Finance

publication · 2026-05-04

Franco Broccardi and Alessia Panella have launched ÆS – Arts+Economics, a free bilingual (Italian/English) quarterly magazine that bridges art and economics. Three issues have been published, praised for their precise, well-argued, and informative articles. The magazine is available online and in print. Additionally, the article reviews several other books: Dario Evola's 'La funzione moderna dell’arte' (Mimesis, 2018) on the modern origins of aesthetics, museums, and academies in the 17th century; Philippe Daverio's 'Grand Tour d’Italia a piccoli passi' (Rizzoli, 2018), a slow-travel guide; Jacques Rancière's 'Lo spettatore emancipato' (DeriveApprodi, 2018), which redefines the spectator's role; Filippo Cavazzoni's edited volume 'Il pubblico ha sempre ragione?' (IBL Libri, 2018) on cultural policies; Irene Sanesi's 'Buona ventura' (Il Mulino, 2018) on entrepreneurship; and Valérie Rousseau & Debra Purden's 'Bill Traylor' (5 Continents, 2018) on the outsider artist born into slavery. The article is by Marco Enrico Giacomelli.
