Aeropittura futurist exhibition at Labirinto della Masone

The Labirinto della Masone in Fontanellato, near Parma, presents 'Dall’alto. Aeropittura futurista', a comprehensive exhibition dedicated to aeropainting, a Futurist trend formalized in 1928 by Mino Somenzi and later in a 1931 manifesto signed by Balla, Benedetta, Depero, Dottori, Fillia, Marinetti, Prampolini, Somenzi, and Tato. Curated by Massimo Duranti, the show features around one hundred paintings by about thirty artists, including major figures like Tullio Crali and Gerardo Dottori, as well as lesser-known names and women such as Benedetta Cappa, Leandra Angelucci Cominazzini, Barbara, and Marisa Mori. The exhibition explores the multifaceted poetics of aeropainting, from dynamic Futurist views to cosmic-mechanical visions by Fillia, aerial battle scenes from the African war, and examples of aerosculpture. It also includes works outside strict Futurist boundaries, like Guido Strazza's 1942 drawings. The display mimics a 1930s collector's home, with sections highlighting abstract versus figurative tendencies and specific events like Dottori's 1926 'Incendio città' and Ambrosi's 1933 'Volo su Vienna'.
