Aedicula Raffaella Cortese: A New Intimate Art Space in Albisola Superiore

Galleria Raffaella Cortese has opened Aedicula Raffaella Cortese, a small exhibition space at Via Colombo 54 in Albisola Superiore, Liguria. Restored by young architects Gaia Calegari and Nicola Clivati, the venue is described by the gallerist as an intimate, low-voice space for sharing art and thought, distinct from her main Milan gallery. The inaugural project features Marcello Maloberti's neon work "Amore portami dove sono" (2022), visible from the street. Cortese notes her desire for permanence and intimacy in an art world of spectacular, transient events, and a personal need to reconnect with the sea. Albisola Superiore has a rich ceramic art history, hosting artists like Lucio Fontana, Manzoni, Leoncillo, Asger Jorn, Wilfredo Lam, and Sebastián Matta since the 1950s. Maloberti, an artist from Codogno (1966) long associated with Cortese, contributes a poetic neon text that echoes the space's ethos. The project aims to create a contemplative environment rather than a conventional gallery.
