Adrien Missika's 'Palazzo delle Api' at La Raia Foundation

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Founded in June 2013 by the Rossi Cairo family in Novi Ligure, Italy, the La Raia Foundation focuses on landscape contemplation through specially commissioned art. Ilaria Bonacossa serves as the artistic director. The most recent work is 'Palazzo delle Api' (2018) by Adrien Missika, an inverted pyramid crafted from Luserna stone designed for nomadic bees. Born in Paris in 1981, Missika drew from pre-Columbian aesthetics and the designs of Le Corbusier. Other notable pieces include Michael Beutler's roto-bales, Koo Joeng-A's painting illuminated by moonlight, and Remo Salvadori's Japanese-style garden. Future projects will feature contributions from Francesco Jodice and a new work by Beutler. Bonacossa emphasizes the foundation's unique artist collaborations compared to the market-oriented art scene, observing a rising trend of wineries embracing contemporary art.
