Adriano Pedrosa Curates 60th Venice Biennale with 'Foreigners Everywhere' Theme

exhibition · 2026-04-20

Adriano Pedrosa, who will serve as the inaugural Latin American chief curator for the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024, has selected the theme 'Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere.' This concept draws inspiration from Claire Fontaine and Pedrosa's 2009 Panorama da Arte Brasileira. The exhibition is divided into two primary sections: Nucleo Storico, co-curated alongside Sofia Gotti, and Nucleo Contemporaneo, with assistance from Amanda Carneiro, highlighting themes related to foreigners, queer identities, outsider artists, and indigenous perspectives. It will showcase 30 collateral events, including 'Anchor in the Landscape' by Artists and Allies of Hebron. Since 2014, Pedrosa has been the artistic director at MASP, where he plans to rename the museum's buildings in honor of Pietro Maria Bardi and Lina Bo Bardi by late 2024. His career includes studies in Rio and curatorial positions at prominent biennials.
