Adjaye Associates to Design Interfaith Complex in Abu Dhabi

Adjaye Associates has won the competition to design The Abrahamic Family, an interfaith complex on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, comprising a church, mosque, and synagogue. The project, commissioned by the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity, aims to create a platform for dialogue and coexistence among the three Abrahamic faiths. The three cubic buildings, designed to be coherent yet distinct, will feature colonnades, vaults, and inclined screens, and will be illuminated by the region's warm light. The complex will be located near the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, adding to the island's concentration of cultural institutions. Construction timeline and costs have not been disclosed.
