Adina Pintilie's 'You Are Another Me' at the Romanian Pavilion, Venice Biennale

At the 59th Venice Biennale, Romania showcases Adina Pintilie's work titled 'You Are Another Me—A Cathedral of the Body', under the curation of Cosmin Costinaș and Viktor Neumann. This exhibition features a nine-channel video installation located at the Romanian Pavilion, alongside a virtual-reality component at the Romanian Institute for Culture and Humanistic Research. Born in Bucharest in 1980, Pintilie delves into themes of intimacy and sexuality, drawing inspiration from her Golden Bear-winning film 'Touch Me Not'. The installation examines relational dynamics, the female form, and alternative viewpoints, collaborating with both performers and activists. It challenges conventional notions of the body and engages with concepts of phenomenology, visibility, and national identity, while the VR aspect contemplates corporeality in a post-pandemic context.
