Adidas launches custom knitwear production in Berlin mall

Adidas has opened a temporary shop in Berlin's Bikini shopping center called Knit for You, where customers can co-fabricate custom merino wool sweaters. The process involves body scanning, digital configuration of colors and textures, and industrial knitting on-site, with finishing by staff. Production takes 1.5-2 hours, and sweaters cost €200. The shop runs until February and serves as a test for the feasibility of personal fabrication in retail. Adidas previously offered customizable sneakers online via Create With My Adidas. The initiative demonstrates a shift toward manufacturing within urban commercial spaces, requiring no technical skills from customers.
