ADI Design Museum in Milan Launches Design-Themed Escape Room

The ADI Design Museum in Milan has introduced Clocked, an escape room focused on Italian design history, running until October 29. Located in the museum's basement, the game features sixteen iconic design objects—such as the Lettera 22 typewriter by Marcello Nizzoli for Olivetti, the Eclisse lamp by Vico Magistretti, and the 9091 kettle by Richard Sapper for Alessi—that hold clues for players. Teams of up to ten people must solve puzzles within a time limit to exit the room. No prior design knowledge is required; all hints are hidden within or around the objects, which are arranged along a timeline. The project was curated by game designer Marta Palvarini, who described it as a non-linear game emphasizing collaboration and communication. Museum president Luciano Galimberti noted that the initiative aims to engage younger audiences and foster unconventional museum experiences. The escape room is part of a broader effort by the Circuito Lombardo Musei Design, a network of design museums in Lombardy, where players can continue their mission. Seven daily game slots are available, with masters and tutors providing non-verbal assistance or challenges.
