ADI Design Museum Compasso d'Oro Opens in Milan After Pandemic Delays
On May 26, 2021, the ADI Design Museum Compasso d'Oro was inaugurated in Milan's Porta Volta area after experiencing delays linked to the pandemic. Originally scheduled for June 2020, the museum spans 5,000 square meters and presents the Compasso d'Oro award collection, which was founded in 1954 by ADI. It includes eight exhibitions and a permanent installation named "Il cucchiaio e la città," curated by Beppe Finessi. Situated in a repurposed power plant at via Ceresio 7/via Bramante 42, the museum showcases a design by Migliore + Servetto Architects and is notable for being Italy's first museum without a physical ticket office. Italian Culture Minister Dario Franceschini hailed the opening as a symbol of recovery following the pandemic, and the museum partners with IED and Accademia di Belle Arti Aldo Galli di Como.
