ADFF 2026–2027 Season Opens with Smiljan Radić World Premiere at MoMA

The 2026–2027 season of the Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) is set to commence on October 12 with the global premiere of MUNDO FRÁGIL, a film directed by Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine that profiles 2026 Pritzker Prize winner Smiljan Radić. This screening will occur at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. The festival's 18th edition will also unveil Five Living Buildings, directed by Jonathan Goodman Levitt, showcasing the work of Renzo Piano at Village East by Angelika. After its New York debut, ADFF will move to cities such as Toronto, Vancouver, Mumbai, Detroit, and Chicago. Festival Director Kyle Bergman emphasized themes of reimagining existing architecture, with films addressing adaptive reuse and the influences of movements like Bauhaus and Googie. Noteworthy entries include Barbara Buser – Swiss Pioneer of Sustainability and COPAN, which contrasts a contested election in Oscar Niemeyer's São Paulo housing block with Brazil's national election. The festival will also host discussions and special guests, featuring Máximapark, which chronicles a community-driven transformation in the Netherlands, and The Tower That Built A City, focusing on Toronto's CN Tower.
