Adelene Koh's Bookbinding Sculptures Shortlisted for Loewe Craft Prize

Adelene Koh, a bookmaker and conservator from Taiwan, is among the 30 finalists for the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize in 2026. Her piece, named "Endless," was featured in an exhibition of the selected artists. This sculpture takes the shape of an ouroboros-inspired cylinder made from carefully folded paper, with colorful fibers stitching its edges together. It showcases 18th and 19th-century English endband sewing techniques, creating a loop that resembles a book's spine and fore-edge. Koh wants to shed light on the often-ignored aspects of bookbinding, expressing her desire to highlight the "overlooked" elements. She began her artistic journey in 2011 after attending the New York Art Book Fair and now runs her studio, dddots, in Taiwan. Jongjin Park won this year’s prize, with Xanthe Somers also recognized.
