Adel Abdessemed's Dual Exhibitions in Rennes and Paris

Adel Abdessemed (born 1971 in Algeria) has built an exemplary career over the past decade, with solo shows at Vassivière, Reims, and Milan, and participation in international events such as Manifesta 3 (2000), the Yokohama Triennale (2001), and the biennials of Pusan and Venice. His work, rooted in his experience as an uprooted Algerian artist living in Europe since 1994, rests on two pillars: documenting contemporary violence and denouncing oppression. Two concurrent exhibitions present his work: "La Criée" in Rennes from December 30 to August 27, 2006, and "Le Plateau" in Paris from September 14 to November 19, 2006.
