Adam Szymczyk to Lead Documenta 14 in Kassel

Adam Szymczyk has been chosen as the artistic director for documenta 14, which will kick off on June 10, 2017, in Kassel. He currently heads Kunsthalle Basel, and his appointment received unanimous support from documenta's supervisory board after being recommended by an international committee. Bernd Leifeld, the CEO of documenta, confirmed the news. Szymczyk co-founded the Foksal Gallery Foundation in Warsaw and was a curator there from 1997 until 2003. In 2008, he co-curated the 5th Berlin Biennial, titled When Things Cast No Shadow, with Elena Filipovic. He also curated an exhibition called Olinka, or Where Movement Is Created, at Museo Tamayo in Mexico City in 2012.
