Actor Patrick Muldoon, known for Days of Our Lives and Starship Troopers, dies at 57

Patrick Muldoon, the American actor and producer, passed away at his home from a heart attack on Sunday. He was 57 years old. Muldoon gained recognition for playing Austin Reed on NBC's daytime drama Days of Our Lives from 1992 to 1995, with a brief return in 2011. His role as Zander Barcalow in Paul Verhoeven's 1997 sci-fi film Starship Troopers also brought him widespread attention. He appeared as Richard Hart on the television series Melrose Place for three seasons between 1995 and 1996. Born in San Pedro, California, Muldoon studied at the University of Southern California and played for its football team, the Trojans. His early acting work included a recurring role as Jeffrey Hunter on Saved By the Bell. Beyond acting, he produced films like The Tribes of Palos Verdes, Arkansas, and Marlowe, and was set to produce the upcoming feature Kockroach starring Chris Hemsworth. Muldoon also had a band called The Sleeping Masses. His final on-screen appearance will be in the forthcoming action-crime thriller Dirty Hands, alongside his Starship Troopers co-star Denise Richards. He is survived by his partner Miriam Rothbart, parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr, sister and brother-in-law Shana and Ahmet Zappa, niece Halo, and nephew Arrow Zappa.
