Actiu's Spanish HQ becomes world's only LEED and WELL Platinum industrial facility

Spanish furniture brand Actiu's headquarters in Castalla, Spain, designed by architect José María Tomás Llavador in 2008, is the only industrial facility globally to hold both LEED Platinum and WELL Platinum certifications. The bioclimatic campus integrates architecture, landscape, and health as a single system. It features three production buildings (13,000 sq m each), an 18,000 sq m logistics building, and a 6,000 sq m office building, all maximizing natural light and cross-ventilation. Glazed facades blur indoor-outdoor boundaries, while interior gardens and restorative spaces enhance wellbeing. Rainwater is collected via gutter beams to irrigate 5,000 native plants including olive trees and lavender. The project was shaped by founder Vicent Berbegal's sustainability philosophy. Actiu's research-led approach also informed products like Qyos acoustic pods. The campus earned LEED Platinum in 2017 and WELL Platinum in 2019, with its WELL score rising from 82 to 90 in 2024. Actiu became a certified B Corp in 2025. Director Soledat Berbegal called the Technology Park a turning point, marking sustainability as a tangible reality.
