Acqua Foundation Funds Inclusive Toilets in Tanzania School for World Water Day

On March 22, 2025, Acqua Foundation celebrated World Water Day at the Maxxi in Rome with a fundraising initiative to build six inclusive bathrooms and a water tank at a school in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, benefiting 600 children and 12 teachers. Founded in 2018 and launched at Manifesta 12 in Palermo, the foundation collaborates with WeWorld, a Milan-based NGO operating in 26 countries. The evening featured artist Arabeschi di Latte (Francesca Sarti) presenting "Water Tasting," an installation exploring alternative water purification methods and plastic-free consumption. Founder Aurelia Musumeci Greco highlighted the foundation's mission to raise awareness about water as a vital resource and to support concrete projects. Past initiatives include the 2021 digital fashion collection "Alteration Space" with artists Anna Nazaretskaia and Daria Elkina benefiting Amref, the 2023 video "Nobilis Golden Moon" by Mariagrazia Pontorno, and the Imaginarium conference series at Fondazione Catella featuring exhibitions by Marion Baruch (2022), Quayola (2023), and Elena Mazzi (2024). Greco cited artists Olafur Eliasson, Ai Weiwei, Vik Muniz, and Andreco as examples of contemporary art engaging with environmental themes. The event was organized in partnership with Giorgio Armani under the "Acqua for Future" umbrella.
