ACM Framework for Lossless Context Management in Agentic Tasks

other · 2026-07-29

A new framework called Agentic Context Management (ACM) is proposed to address information loss in long-horizon agentic tasks. Inspired by human memory, ACM allows agents to autonomously compress context, offload discarded content to external memory, and query it on demand. A post-training pipeline improves performance on search and coding tasks.

Key facts

  • ACM is a framework for lossless context management in agentic tasks.
  • It is inspired by the interaction between short-term and long-term human memory.
  • Agents autonomously decide when to compress context.
  • Discarded content is offloaded to an external memory system.
  • The framework includes a post-training pipeline for high-quality demonstrations.
  • It improves performance on agentic search and coding tasks.
  • Existing methods incur information loss and use rigid heuristic rules.
  • The paper is from arXiv:2607.23809.
