Achille Lauro creates soundscape for Taranto's archaeological museum

Achille Lauro, a popular Italian singer-songwriter, has been selected as the latest artist to participate in the Quadri Sonori project at the MArTA – National Archaeological Museum of Taranto. The initiative, a collaboration between the Orchestra della Magna Grecia and the Municipality of Taranto, invites musicians to compose a symphony or piece inspired by a cultural site in the city, contributing to the creation of Taranto's first musical itinerary aimed at promoting architectural and artistic heritage. Previous participants include composer Remo Anzovino (for the Co-Cathedral Gran Madre di Dio), composer and conductor John Rutter (for the Cathedral of San Cataldo), and Oscar and Golden Globe-winning composer Dario Marianelli (for the MArTA itself). Lauro's involvement marks his third year of collaboration with Taranto, having performed at the MediTa Festival with the Orchestra della Magna Grecia conducted by Maestro Piero Romano. Lauro described the project as "a project of extreme cultural relevance" and thanked Romano and the orchestra for allowing him to "experiment with something new." Eva Degl'Innocenti, director of MArTA, expressed enthusiasm, stating that Lauro's music will animate the museum's works, making it an increasingly synesthetic experience. The project aims to blend pop music with the ancient Magna Graecia civilization of Taranto.
