Achille Funi's works dialogue with Etruscan artifacts at Ferrara's National Archaeological Museum

The National Archaeological Museum of Ferrara hosts 'Il tempo immaginato. Achille Funi tra archeologia, storia e modernità', curated by director Tiziano Trocchi and Emanuela Fiore. The exhibition pairs Funi's 1930s works with Etruscan artifacts from the museum's collection, focusing on 1933–1937. This period saw Ferrara inaugurate the Regio Museo di Spina (now the National Archaeological Museum) in 1935, and Funi begin his decorative project in the Sala della Consulta at Palazzo Comunale (1934–1937). The show includes preparatory cartoons for Funi's allegories of the Months. Curator Fiore states the juxtaposition invites reflection on cyclical time and myth. The exhibition complements 'Achille Funi. Un maestro del Novecento tra storia e mito' at Palazzo Diamanti, on view until February 25, 2024. This is the third exhibition in the Sintonie project, a three-year agreement between the Direzione dei Musei dell'Emilia-Romagna and local cultural associations Assicoop and Legacoop, following shows on Gianfranco Goberti and Roberto Melli at Museo di Casa Romei.
