Accademia di San Luca unveils new exhibition layout in Rome

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome has renovated its collection display with a new exhibition path designed by Francesco Cellini, winding along Francesco Borromini's ramp and ending in the academic gallery on the third floor of Palazzo Carpegna. The renovation coincides with the exhibition "Roma – PARIGI. Accademie a confronto," celebrating 350 years of the French Academy in Rome. Curated by Carolina Brook, Gian Paolo Consoli, and Susanna Pasquali, coordinated by Francesco Moschini, the show features 130 works by Italian and French artists from the 17th to 19th centuries, including pieces by Raffaello, Nicolas Vleughels, Antonio Canova, Pierre Bernard, and Charles François Poerson. The Borromini ramp has been restored for the occasion, presenting competition entries and stylistic differences chronologically. The Accademia, founded in the late 16th century, responds to a French invitation to mark the anniversary of the Accademia di Francia a Roma.
