Accademia di Macerata launches 'Choral Art' project during lockdown
During the Covid-19 lockdown, the Accademia di Belle Arti di Macerata produced a collective art project under the guidance of artist, researcher, and professor Luigi Pagliarini. The project comprises a series of videos accompanied by a 'Manifesto per l’Arte Corale' that outlines its aims. Pagliarini describes the necessity of a connective thought leading to a new, ecosystemic, cultured, and rehumanized humanity, which inspired his research into an aesthetic that goes beyond collectivity to what he calls 'Choral Art'—where groups of artists converge toward a single sign, definition, and purpose, prioritizing the whole over individualism. The initiative, titled '#restaCorale – Saluti dal mondo in cattività', was created with contributions from over 150 students enrolled in the courses Teoria della Percezione, Psicologia della Forma, and Sociologia del Corpo. The works were produced between April and May 2020 during the isolation period and reflect the emotions and physicality of that time, serving as a historical memory of the experience. The first video, '#restaTrascendente', is an animation of twelve hand-drawn panels made by the Semiologia del Corpo class of the Biennio. Subsequent videos—'#restaUmano', '#restaaCasa', '#restaSicuro', '#restaCreativo', and '#restaTeStesso'—will be released in the following weeks, created by the Teoria della Percezione and Psicologia della Forma classes of the Triennio.
