Absolut Art Award 2015 Nominations Announced with 47 Artists and Writers Contending
The Absolut Art Award for 2015 has put forward a total of 47 nominees in two distinct categories. Among the 37 artists in the Art Work category, notable names such as Ragnar Kjartansson, Yto Barrada, Rivane Neuenschwander, Lee Kit, John Akomfrah, and Mark Leckey represent 24 countries, along with rising stars like Köken Ergun and Simon Denny. In the Art Writing category, ten writers, including Quinn Latimer, Tirdad Zolghadr, and Dieter Roelstraete, have been selected. The winner of the Art Work category will receive €20,000 and may be awarded up to €100,000 for a new piece, while the winning writer will get €20,000 plus €25,000 for publication. The shortlist will be announced at Art Basel Miami Beach in 2014, with winners revealed during the Venice Biennale in May 2015 and an awards ceremony scheduled for September 2015 in Stockholm. Massimiliano Gioni leads the jury, which includes Magali Arriola, Negar Azimi, Doryun Chong, and Jessica Morgan. Nominations were made public on 30 October 2014.
