Abruzzo's Polo Museale launches 3D digital project

The Polo Museale dell'Abruzzo has launched a pioneering digital project using 3D technologies to showcase its collections. Initiated in 2017 by Director Lucia Arbace and RUP Giulia Tortoriello, the project was developed by Archimetria Group, led by Danilo Prosperi. It features 3D models of artworks from three museums: MuNDA – Museo Nazionale D'Abruzzo in L'Aquila, Museo Archeologico Nazionale dell'Abruzzo "Villa Frigerj" in Chieti, and Museo Casa Natale di Gabriele D'Annunzio. The models are published on the official Polo Museale website, Google Maps & Street View (with a virtual tour), and SketchFab, where the Polo Museale is the first Italian museum hub to have an account. The project aims to preserve cultural heritage, especially after the 2009 earthquake, and has garnered nearly 15,000 views. It has been invited to present at the "Connessioni d'arte" event in Bari on June 15-16. Meanwhile, new Minister of Cultural Heritage Alberto Bonisoli has appointed Milovan Farronato as curator of the Italian Pavilion at the 2019 Venice Biennale, emphasizing job creation in the cultural sector.
