Abel Kabel's 'GOT GUTS' at Jacob Bjørn Gallery Blends Pop and Personal

Jacob Bjørn Gallery in Aarhus, Denmark, presents 'GOT GUTS', the first solo exhibition of Danish artist Abel Kabel at the venue, running from April 10 to May 10, 2026. The show features an entirely new series of intuitive, figurative paintings on canvas and paper, some large enough to alter the physical experience of the intimate salon gallery at Mejlgade 35A. Kabel's work fuses personal biography with pop-cultural imagery without separating them, creating a direct, unapologetic visual language. One large canvas bears the phrase 'CEASE 2 EXIST' in scratched lettering against a black ground, with a figure combining striped legs and multiple references. Another vertical work layers figures in yellow garments against raw brown canvas, where exposed ground functions as active color logic. Pop symbols—printed textiles, a scorpion outline—surface fluently without commentary.
