Abel Ferrara Reads Poetry at Palazzo Altemps Before Sparse Audience
On June 22, 2020, at Palazzo Altemps in Rome, filmmaker Abel Ferrara organized a pop-up poetry reading in front of the Dying Gaul statue. The event, titled Canti di pietra, showcased the works of Gabriele Tinti, who connects lyrical poetry with art history. Tinti's poems, which draw inspiration from a Roman marble replica dating back to 240 BC, are part of his Rovine project, previously exhibited at institutions such as the British Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This occasion celebrated the museum's reopening and introduced Tinti's poetic audio guide, launched on World Poetry Day, March 21, 2020. The multimedia initiative, backed by Fondazione Cultura e Arte, will be available via QR code starting August 29, 2020, at Palazzo Altemps and Palazzo Massimo.
