ABCA 2026 Awards Celebrate Diversity and New Permanent Archive at Memorial da América Latina
On August 27, 2026, the Prêmio ABCA ceremony took place at Teatro Antunes Filho in São Paulo, celebrating the rich diversity of Brazilian art with the attendance of numerous artists, critics, and cultural personalities. Founded in 1978 by ABCA, this year’s awards introduced new categories, honoring individuals such as Sônia Salzstein (Prêmio Mário de Andrade), Gê Viana (Mário Pedrosa), and Renata Bittencourt (Ciccillo Matarazzo). Regional accolades were given to FARGO, Galeria Amparo 60, Paula Sampaio, Ateliê 397, and Fundação Vera Chaves Barcellos. For improved representation, ABCA is restructuring and has appointed Alessandra Simões Paiva as president for 2025-2027. Additionally, ABCA signed a Protocolo de Intenções with Fundação Memorial da América Latina for its historical archive. Ella Nascimento and Luana Bayo performed at the event.
