Abandoned Newsstand Transformed into Open-Air Gallery in Turin
In Turin's Aurora district, an abandoned newsstand has been transformed into an open-air art gallery through the initiative of artist and curator Rosy Togaci, known as EdicolArte. This project, which began in 2017 during the Festival della Cultura del Basso, is located in a kiosk between Corso Vercelli and Via Cuneo, within a 70,000-square-meter former industrial area. The aim is to revitalize the neighborhood by hosting weekly cultural and artistic events that engage both locals and visitors. Togaci referred to this as a 'bottom-up redevelopment' of a neglected space into a cultural landmark. During Artissima week, EdicolArte showcased 'Edicolarte per Aurora, Arte urbana – Arte a perdere' at the old Maria Adelaide Hospital, featuring works by various artists.
