AAN Architects Designs Glass-Walled Indoor Skatepark in Shanghai's Xuhui District

architecture-design · 2026-04-20

Moreprk Skyline, an indoor skatepark offering sweeping views of Shanghai, has been finalized by AAN Architects in the Xuhui District. This venue spans the third and fourth levels of a glass-encased commercial building initially designed by Vanke. The main area features a steel-reinforced concrete bowl that undulates, providing a sunken section for skaters to build momentum. The ceiling, track lighting, and railings echo wave-like designs, fostering a seamless flow. A reception area is accessed via a zigzagging rail with skateboard-shaped seating. The upper level includes a coffee kiosk, retail space, and a skateboarding workshop, while the roof boasts an outdoor track and dome. The studio emphasized that the design utilizes curvature to enhance movement and redefine the interaction between individuals and the urban environment. The park caters to both casual skating and structured lessons.
