AAATHENS Digital Platform Launches with Hydra Performance by Evangelia VS

AAATHENS, a new digital platform founded by Chiara Crespi, aims to map and promote Athens' contemporary art scene through videos, interactive exhibition maps, event listings, artist interviews, and a monthly newsletter. The platform held its first public event at Athens—drawing, an unconventional space in the Greek capital. On June 22, 2025, AAATHENS presented its second public event on the island of Hydra, occupying the main square with a one-night performance by Evangelia VS (aka Abyss X), an artist, composer, singer, director, choreographer, creative director, and curator of a festival in Crete. The event coincided with the summer opening of the DESTE Foundation. QR codes in the square connected visitors to a Hydra Special Edition of the platform, offering exclusive content, interactive maps, and video teasers. Crespi describes AAATHENS not as a guide but as a "curatorial lens" that becomes "physical, participatory, and alive" during the Hydra performance.
