A.I. Artisanal Intelligence's 14th Edition Explores Costume History at AltaRoma

The 14th edition of A.I. Artisanal Intelligence, titled 'Prove Tecniche di Trasmissione,' was held from July 7-9, 2017 at the Guido Reni District in Rome during AltaRoma. Curated by Clara Tosi Pamphili and Alessio de' Navasques, the exhibition merged textile research, archival rediscovery, and costume art. It featured ten designers—seven Italian and three international—including Wali Mohammed Barrech, Trakatan, Roberto Scarantino, Marie Louise Vogt, Bav Tailor, Giuseppe Buccinnà, and Asciari. The project collaborated with the Accademia di Costume & Moda di Roma (directed by Lupo Lanzara), Sartoria Farani (Luigi Piccolo), the One, and Pompei for shoes. Artist Isabella Ducrot opened the exhibition with works from her archive of ancient textiles. The show drew inspiration from a 1970s Italian TV color test program, reframing the 'technical test' as a creative exploration of craftsmanship and fashion.
