A Comet in Your Eyes: Dual Exhibition at Sursock Museum

exhibition · 2026-04-23

The Sursock Museum in Beirut, collaborating with Instituto Guimarães Rosa – Beirut and the Brazilian Embassy in Lebanon, showcases 'A Comet in Your Eyes,' a joint exhibition featuring fresh pieces by Panos Aprahamian (Lebanon) and Janaina Wagner (Brazil). This exhibition delves into themes of cosmic yearning and environmental destruction through installations inspired by Brazil's scenery. Wagner's video piece 'When the Second Sun Arrives / A Comet in Your Eyes' wraps up her trilogy on the Trans-Amazonian Highway BR-230, a massive 1970s project that harmed ecosystems. Aprahamian's two-channel video 'The Vanguard Outside of History' intertwines fiction with documentary, following Ypsilon, a Brazilian of Lebanese-Palestinian heritage, in Syria's deserts, envisioning a vanguard influenced by extraterrestrial beliefs. The exhibition is currently on display at the Sursock Museum.
