9th Printemps Asiatique Paris Spotlights Korean Art
The 9th edition of Printemps Asiatique Paris celebrates Franco-Korean friendship by highlighting Korean art. The event moves from the Pagode de la Plaine-Monceau to the refined spaces of Galerie Charpentier. Participating galleries include Louis & Sack (Lee Hyun Joung's memorial landscapes), Magna Gallery (Hoon Moreau's oak sculptures blackened with India ink), and Galerie Françoise Livinec (Bang Hai Ja's works). A "Parcours galeries" route connects about twenty Parisian galleries. Galerie Jean-François Cazeau features major Asian artists like Zao Wou-Ki, Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita, and Yayoi Kusama. Decorative arts are represented by Galerie Mingei (Japanese bamboo basketry from the 8th century to today), Galerie Sinapango (lacquer objects including a Ming dynasty erotic incense box), and Galerie Jacques Barrère (a large Goryeo dynasty bodhisattva sculpture). The Musée Guimet mounts two complementary exhibitions: one on treasures of the Silla kingdom, the other on K-beauty's evolution. The event also includes auctions, guided tours, and conferences.
